How it Started The original and sole purpose for setting up the Dinner Club as conceived by Eva, whose highly original idea it originally was, was to find herself a man. She knew for this scheme to work she would need a running buddy who was a male for the men to relate to. She put her ideas to me of starting a club which held dinner events (where women could meet and interview the right sort of men in a “non confrontational” environment) and we began and within 3 months she had found a man and completely disappeared after giving me her half of our contact list. Ever since, except for a break or two, I have run Dinner Club ('cause it's so interesting (and while something else settles and then I may do what Eva did (with some currently lacking gentle persuasion))) and its original motivation has remained: for women to find a man, and make friends, at nice events and also for men to find women and be found and make friends. Members join, come along, often find someone by meeting them in a natural environment and disappear and some come back to repeat the process – and its all very discreet (except maybe for speed dating which is very results oriented and rather open). The membership of the group slowly turns over with a third new and a quarter disappearing each year. There are currently some 1,700 on the free emailout list, some active and some as back up insurance in case they suddenly need to come. Others stay on the list and attend occasionally because they know that a social life is good for balance. Each week new people who are ready for something new come out of nowhere onto the list. -- David So now to the more formal introduction: Conversation and dinner based events for sophisticated singles aged 30 and up to make new friends, enjoy nice evenings, improve their social life or discreetly find someone special. Events held each week. Speed dating now held three times per month for quick partner finding results. No joining or membership fees. Join or ring to go on the weekly email list. If you are looking for a social club in Sydney, are single, like conversation based dinner events and wanting to make new friends or find someone special then feel free to go on the email list or bookmark this site and come along. The Dinner Club is a dining and social club in Sydney for generally business and professional/semi professional singles or sophisticated available people wishing to enjoy conversation based events at social events for singles. The general events are for people seeking conversation, company, to develop a social life to balance their work life or to make a fresh start and to make new friends and meet members of the opposite sex from different walks of life and maybe discreetly and adventitiously find someone special at a leisurely pace. If you come to enough events you are most likely to find someone special and this is the major reason for our turnover of members. On four Monday nights per month the Club holds Speed Dating in Sydney events for people wanting to find a partner quickly. Matches are discreetly disclosed on the night to people who have both discreetly selected each other thus forming a sound foundation for a discreet possible partnership or special friendship. The club is also partnered with a specialist travel organization which specializes in singles holidays and singles travel, both within Australia and overseas. The club has no joining or membership fees and people currently only pay an attendance fee for the events they attend. Events are generally balanced and are held at different venues most nights per week: the main nights are Friday and Saturday nights at reasonable value venues. It is free to go on the weekly notification email us and you are welcome to stay on the list until you are ready to attend or while you are otherwise preoccupied. Ages tend to range from 30's to 50's. It is now possible, and preferred, to pay a nominal 3, 6, 12, 24 or 36 month “membership” fee ($50, $75, $100, $150, $200) to cover the attendance fee at all events for that period and then pay nothing more to the club. During a 12 month period there are some 200 events so the fee is very good value and you are requested to attend as many events as you wish to get your money's worth. The fee can be put on hold if needs be. The more people attend the more people there are to meet and the better it is for everyone. 30 local and specialist internet dating and mating sites Please support our sponsors: Click here for 30 of the better local and beyond INTERNET DATING AND MATING websites where you can put up your profile for free and meet lots of new people without having to buy stamps. Bonus
offers – how to come for free ! If
you pay $300 you can come to any event and pay no fee and
get the best prices for restaurant dinners no matter how late you
book for five years !!! ($60 per year)
Those
who take up the latter three offers can have special entitlements
such as my sending out their very thoughtfully crafted profiles
with photos and offers, even a number of different ones at
different times, to all the members, male or female, once, twice
or thrice. I am happy to discuss other creative offers to work out
what you would really really like but dare not ask or thought you
could not ask. Some of these could feasibly go on to become
replicable offers for others to also avail themselves of. 1.When attending any dinners/outings be in a positive mood. Remember that enthusiasm is catching!! 2.Being sociable is a reciprocal activity....so make the most of the evening and circulate/mix with people to make your own evening more varied and interesting. 3.Give feedback. It is good to know what works and what doesn't. 4.Always be pleasant and DO NOT overly discuss previous marital problems unless it is found interesting by other people....too much can be a real turnoff and it classified as BAGGAGE!! The same applies on dates. You really have to move on and leave it behind like scenery receding into the past and getting smaller and eventually over the horizon in your rear view mirror- it will happen if you are moving in life and when you get involved with the problems of other people by listening to them you're own seem to get smaller. After all theirs are more interesting and you learn more when you listening to theirs. When you do all the talking you learn little. This is also one of the keys to successful dating, get the other person to do most of the talking (less work for you) about their favourite subject themselves and compliment them on their good points. Flattery will get you everywhere. 5.Finally NEVER discuss any previous or current members in an adverse or gossipy way. Remember that this can be a turnoff and may say more about you than them and start gossip behind your back. People admire those who find and speak the best of others as everyone has their strengths - -though in some cases you have to be of certain levels to discover them. Remember everyone has their story if you have ears to listen and you can learn from everyone! Try it. |
* On some Friday or Saturday nights, numbers and mix permitting, we may have discreet slow speed dating at the end if people ask. If people don't ask on the night we don't do it. Many people come who are not averse to finding a special new friend. The slips are designed to assist you to find a special mutual friend on the night and enjoy an extra benefit for your attending, on top of the dinner, the company and the conversation. Without this process potential latent matches, which may have existed between people attending on the night, would not be discovered so join in and play along: you might get lucky with Love Lotto. * On the night, numbers permitting, there are moves every 30 minutes or so so you get to meet all the members of the opposite sex and don't get stuck with the same people all night. Generally it is the men who are moved.
If you need to know which buses or trains to catch to an event go to 131500.com.au for directions. If you are coming from a distance book in by early to get the cheapest price and that should cover your petrol costs. ** Slow Speeddating Dinner Party events are held each Friday nights and Saturday night (occasional Dinner House Parties are held on occasional Saturday nights) with numbers of usually 10 - 25 people attending. Bookings (which can be taken up until the last moment if you get a sudden change of plans) are preferred but you can just turn up if unable to get to a phone. Tell friends about these dinners and bring them along. Spread the word. ** A few events are for certain ages and the rest are open. Seating is alternate with moves between courses (known as intercourse rotation) to allow you to meet more people. Arrival time is 7.15 - 7.45 but the food does not usually begin until 8.15. Arrive early to get a good seat (and easier parking). Dress is smart casual. Bring friends if you like to have a night with friends but many people enjoy the night more when they come on their own. ** Some new people who make initial enquiries are shy and and cautious about coming along for the first time on their own and find it daunting to walk into a full room where they don't know anyone and some chicken out. The solution is to arrive first, be the first to arrive around 7pm and watch the others come soon after. It's easy to arrive when there is no one else, but me, there. Or, if you would like to meet me and chat first over coffee it may help you summon up the courage to attend for the first time when you have met someone who will be there on the night. If you wish to meet first ring me, David, on 8214 8397 or 0419 605 365 and a time can be arranged to meet over coffee. **What you pay for is what you get. Why should you go to mcdonalds type events which are always the same where you can meet clowns. Why only ever go on the web where you will meet spiders. Some say why should I pay $35 - $50 to go out for a dinner night when I can spend $5 - $20 on cheaper other dance party events? If you go to cheap functions (which are always the same) you meet cheap people and the same people. Why search for people on the web when you can come to real events and meet real people in person. Come to better quality events and you meet better quality people who can sustain a conversation and you get fed unlike those other pick up events and singles hell holes. ** If someone catches your eye but you don't get to talk to them on the night or fail to get their contact details you can send me an email and I will forward it on to them. If someone interests you tell them in an email and arrange to meet during the week or at a future event. Attendees are encouraged to swap numbers on the nights and make new friends. PHANTOM
MULTIPLE DATING: SPEEDY EFFICIENT INTERNET DATING FOR BUSY PEOPLE
WHO HAVEN'T TIME TO WASTE ON SPECULATIVE BLIND DATING. ** If you have a house you can offer for weekend parties or midweek conversation parties please ring me. People who have houseparties pay no booking fee for events. People who offer their houses for houseparties do so for different motives. Some like to entertain and maybe haven't had a chance to do so for a while, others like to have a the deadline of an event as motivation to tidy up the house and kno wing that people are coming for a party motivates them to tidy up like nothing else, others do so to meet a whole lot of people quickly and get known quickly and make as debut so to speak and meet someone special in their own house. You don't have to prepare any food for the dinner houseparties as everyone brings the food or some drinks. Recent experience has shown that most who host dinner house parties find someone on the night for a relationship. ** Promote your business or interest for free! If you have a business or a topic of interest and would like to address an interested group of qualified people one evening on a topic of your choosing or interest or proficiency then contact me and we can organize an interest evening of interested people where you can hold forth on your pet topic. You will need to provide a venue, preferably a house or unit and I will get the people. Also if you have a house or unit you can make available for these free interest evenings contact me also. For these evenings I need both speakers and locations. “A social life is good for balance” - from the tenets of Law Therapy . Conversation is the window to a person's soul. Some nice emails I have received. It could happen to you! It will if you come to enough events! Hello David ..... Apart from all of that can I just say how happy I am about these dinners. They have helped me a lot, I hope you realise the good work you are doing - Thanks, Lauren.
Hi

Hi David, What a nice gesture of you to send a 'thank you for coming last night' email! You are a gentleman indeed. I enjoyed the evening very much, good food and pleasant company, what more can one wish for on a rainy night. Sorry I was late, the traffic was horrendous from Bondi and out of my control. Nevertheless, I was served dinner and wine within minutes of arriving, very good service. Actually, I would like to be added to your gossip. email list, sounds like fun. Best regards, Er.
Thank
you for organizing some great events and keeping me informed about
forthcoming dinners and parties. I met a lady 18 months ago and we are making a go of it. Your events are great, keep up the good work. Brian 8.7.10 Thanks

Holidays
for Singles – Early Bird Savings I recently went on a holiday in June with Arendezvous and I can say it was the best holiday I ever had. I have been on three cruises with Pacific Sky and had a far much better time in Port Douglas with Arendezvous. Justine was the organizer and she had everything organized so that everything went well. We had 16 people on our holiday from different states in Australia and everyone got on well. The excursions we went on were excellent and everyone enjoyed the day. The accommodation was excellent we stayed at the Regis resort the staff was excellent and very helpful. The restaurants we went to were top class with beautiful food. If anyone could not eat certain food, this was catered for. I would not hesitate in recommending Arendezvous to anyone else and would like to go on another holiday with this company next year. I must mention the staff in the Sydney Office were very helpful. Everyone in my group on the holiday all said they would definitely go on another holiday with Arendezvous. Regards Rachel

Just have an optional dinner which for us is only $12.90 before, during or after the speed dating + give an optional donation for the pig to cover our expenses depending on how it works out for you and who you match with! Donate what you pay elsewhere or not at all – it all depends what its worth to you ! (For those who just walk out on everyone part way through and muck up the numbers there is a $30 early departure fee.) You can make as many selections as you like and you can even put down “all” if you want to discover all the ones with very good taste who chose you - as even if you aren't attracted to them you may have overlooked some people in making your choices and so may miss out on making some good friends who are greatly impressed with you. It's a nice way to start a friendship or a relationship as you both have made a declaration for each other and it can be a very powerful process. What to do if you get a match: swap phone numbers, arrange a coffee date within days straightaway, (have an idea for a venue in mind), stay back and have a drink together or go off together. The keen ones don't have dinner beforehand but have dinner with their match, who hopefully, in anticipation, hasn't had dinner either: an instant dinner date! If you get more than one match this may not work – but that creates an interesting problem for you so just stay back with the group and organize matters discreetly. Due to the nature of our operation being in the nature of a club I cannot disclose members’ email addresses or phone numbers to others the next day unless you direct me to do so. Normally you get notification of your matches on the night, importantly while they are still there and you can rely upon and keep them to their “declaration” having chosen you. However if you would like to have your match contact you the next day it has always been possible to request that and from time to time some have requested that or simply sent me an email to send to someone else, match or not, which you can do at any time, even apart from speed dating, and numerous members have done that arising from any event at all. If you wish your matches to be notified the next day so they might contact you please write on your slips “notify” or “advise” with both your name and your speed dating number and both their name and their speed dating number and I will take particular note of that and send any notifications to those who have selected you for them to contact you – but it a tends to be a bit chancy, you may well never hear from them. Experience shows if you do not make plans on the night (when they can still remember who you are because you are in front of them and planning your next meeting then and there or going off together) about half or more of the matches go stale and never meet up. On the night is still the best but you have the option. I suggest if you wish to follow up or be followed up (good luck) the next day send me a very thoughtfully written email written to them (why not propose and outline a date and suggest a venue and date or two or three perhaps based upon what you spoke about, this requires some forethought before your speed dates, and I will forward it. No other speed dating company offers these options. In fact I could then collect all those propositions and post them anonymously on a separate webpage linked off this one for people to peruse and get ideas. Since we finish around 8.45 pm everyone can stay back and have a dinner together as many do. If you get a match, or if you wish, you can order a meal here, together. Perhaps you’ve heard of Favela’s. This is your chance to come along and experience it. And maybe bring friends.

Despite recently
celebrating its 18-month birthday, Favela has slipped effortlessly
into the new brand of boozers taking over Sydney's inner East: the
painfully cool. Favela is one of those night spots that aches with
glamour, and is so far ahead of the fashion forward it shames them
into submissively drinking their cucumber-infused cocktails or
designer, imported beer. It's really a sight for sore
eyes. In an oxymoronic twist, Favela is anything but a Brazilian slum. Adding a more sophisticated flavour to the otherwise seedy King Cross's scene, this sexy night spot attracts the derrierres of Sydney's pretty young things and their designer wallets.

FRIDAY
15TH OCTOBER – GENESIAN
THEATRE
PREVIEW NIGHT,
420
KENT ST CITY The Glass MenagerieBy Tennessee WilliamsDirected by Timothy M CarterSeason: 16th October - 13th November 2010 Originally written for screen under the name The Gentleman Caller by Tennessee Williams, The Glass Menagerie premiered in Chicago in 1944 to critical acclaim. With a cast of four this is an evocative play which brings to light the struggles of each character and the way in which they reconcile their desire for their dreams and their duty to family. Tom Wingfield takes us through his memories on a journey which identifies many social and family themes which are as relevant today as they were in St Louis, 1937. He is oppressed by his obligation to his family since the father walked out on them - a crippled sister (Laura) who has become an ascetic and a mother (Amanda) who is determined to marry her off while reliving her own memories of being a Southern Belle with many gentlemen callers. This season's production of The Glass Menagerie will provide the Genesian Audience an opportunity to explore personal demons and the world we create to find security and comfort, and conflict between an inherent sense of duty and the desire to follow one's dreams.

Cost: Only $10 entry. Bring food or two bottles of drink and we put it all together.
